Vinted Users Voice Anger About Size Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
